	In the shuttlecraft simulation experienced by Kes as part of her piloting lesson by Tom Paris, the attacking starships are Jem'Hadar fighters. The Jem'Hadar are a created species originally from the Gamma Quadrant; they are seen in DS9 as the Dominion's principal armed forces and trusted servants of the Dominion's rulers, the Founders.
	The episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes who plays Commander William Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation and who has a cameo role in "Death Wish".
	The Stellar Cartography department on USS Voyager nickname the planet (which Paris and Neelix will later crashland their shuttlecraft on) 'Planet Hell'. That is a production staff inside joke: Planet Hell is the unofficial/joke name for the standing set known as the generic cave set, which is re-dressed and re-used for most cave settings on the show (a tradition which goes back to TNG).
