	When B'Elanna is being tutored by Tuvok in the art of meditation at the start of the episode, she mentions Daniel Bird, a boy who teased her when she was a young girl. Daniel (Danny) Bird is the name of Harry Kim's best friend, who was posted to Voyager in an alternate timeline, as mentioned in "Non Sequiter".
	It's not the first time the Voyager crew have found a ship that humans couldn't survive on, only this time no-one mentions sending the Doctor? Radiation poisoning? Why not send the invincible hologram... he could be beamed directly to the control room.
	In one previous Voyager episode "Night" the ship meets the Malon for the first time. In that episode Janeway offered Emck (the Malon freighter commander) the technology to purify their reactant but he refused. However this time the threat is even bigger but Voyager's crew act like they can't do anything about the future disposal of toxic chemicals produced by Malon.
