The Talaxians and the Haakonians were at war for almost 10 years.
   
When Neelix was much younger, he lived on the Talaxian moon, Rinax.
   
According to Neelix, Doctor Jetrel was the scientist who conceived the Metreon Cascade that killed more than 300,000 Talaxians, including his family.
   
Talax is the name of the Talaxian homeworld.
   
According to Jetrel, several of the Talaxian rescuers developed a degenerative blood disease called metremia which is always fatal.
   
Jetrel never thought there would be any radiation poisoning. He expected that anyone close enough to be exposed would be killed instantly by the initial blast.
   
On Rynax there is a rodent called a two-tailed talchok. Neelix says, "they are nasty little vermin with sharp claws and dripping fangs."
   
Neelix fought in "The battle of Parinthian Gorge." (This conflicts with the book Pathways by Jeri Taylor.)
   
According to Jetrel, isolating the free isotope that causes metremia could be used to synthesize an antibody; making the victim’s own immune system destroy the disease.
   
Neelix tells the story of the time when he was searching for his family on Rinax. He says he came across a little girl called Palaxia who was very badly burned and stayed by her side until she passed away.
