Captain Janeway captured Piri and her brother in the course of
investigating the bombing; despite their confessing to being
involved in the bombing, Akritirian law did not provide for the
admissibility of any new evidence after conviction and did not
release Paris and Kim. In exchange for her brother Vel providing
Janeway the location and shield codes of the prison so the two
Starfleet officers could be retrieved, Piri and Vel were
released without being reported to the authorities. |
