PLAYED BY: Jeff Allin
SPECIES: Vaadwaur Male

Gedrin informed Captain Kathryn Janeway that the subspace corridors which Voyager had been using were initially discovered and mapped by the Vaadwaur. Their enemies, the Turei, had attacked the Vaadwaur in order to control the corridors, and that he and the surviving members of his race had frozen themselves in stasis in order to preserve their culture. They intended to awaken after five years to begin searching for a new home, but the stasis controls were damaged during the Turei attack and the Vaadwaur survivors spent 892 years in stasis. Janeway promised to help Gedrin and the remaining survivors escape the Turei.

Once the rest of the Vaadwaur were awakened, it became apparent that the Vaadwaur were a warrior race bent on conquest. They planned to seize Voyager and use it to conquer the surrounding systems, recognizing that their own technology was now too primitive to effectively stand against the races of the present. When their ships attacked Voyager, Gedrin – who had come to sympathize with Voyager and their perception of his people's former ways – was able to take them off-line, but at the cost of his life.

PLAYED BY: Robert Knepper
SPECIES: Vaadwaur Male

He was awakened by a landing party from USS Voyager. He was in command of the rest of the Vaadwaur, who were also awoken from stasis. He told Captain Kathryn Janeway that if she helped him and his people escape from their planet, he would give them directions to subspace corridors that could cut years off Voyager's journey.

In reality, his plan was to seize Voyager and use it to attack his enemies and restore the Vaadwaur empire. Janeway and the Voyager were able to foil the plot when one of the Vaadwaur sabotaged many of the Vaadwaur ships, and the rest under Gaul had to retreat.

PLAYED BY: Mimi Craven
SPECIES: Vaadwaur
Female

In the Earth year 1484, she and a group of about six hundred Vaadwaur went into stasis on their homeworld after an attack by their enemies, including the Turei. She was among those who died when the stasis equipment malfunctioned. The rest of the Vaadwaur were not released from stasis until 2376, 892 years later.

PLAYED BY: Bob Stillman
SPECIES:
Turei Male

When USS Voyager accidentally entered the passage, it was unable to escape from it. The Turei commander's starship forced Voyager back in to normal space. He then demanded that he be allowed to board Voyager in order to remove all data on the underspace. When Captain Janeway refused, he attacked Voyager and drove it to the Vaadwaur homeworld.
