SPECIES: Annari MaleGeneral Valen
was the commander of an Annari warship which was lost in the
Void, an inert layer of subspace that trapped ships for over
five years. To survive, he preyed upon unprepared vessels that
arrived.
When the ships first were pulled through the subspace
tunnels, they were disoriented, and his surprise attacks were
often devastating.
When USS Voyager was caught in the Void, Valen pretended to be
an ally of Kathryn Janeway. Valen told Janeway that the only way
to obtain energy and supplies within The Void is to attack new
ships and steal their supplies. Janeway refused to do this even
though it had lost most of its supplies to another ship that
attacked it.
He later betrayed Janeway. Valen stole the supplies from the
ship that attacked Voyager and refused to return them. Voyager
recovered some of the supplies by knocking out Valen's shields.
He attacked Voyager so that he could steal her power sources.
After Voyager had formed an alliance with other ships in The
Void in an attempt to escape, Valen attacked them. His attack
failed when Voyager beamed over Fantome, a native of The Void,
who sabotaged Valen's ship. Voyager and the other ships escaped. |

SPECIES: Hierarchy MaleLoquar was a
member of the Hierarchy. He was captain of a ship that became
trapped in the Void, an enclosed section of space without stars
or planets, surrounded by a barrier that made escape impossible.
When his ship was sucked into the Void, it was attacked by other
ships also in the Void that wanted to steal its technology and
its goods. USS Voyager helped drive off the attackers, and
Loquar joined Voyager's alliance.
This alliance protected Loquar's ship, and when Voyager was able
to produce a polaron modulator, Loquar and his ship escaped the
Void along with Voyager and other members of the alliance.

SPECIES: Nygean MaleGaron was
captain of a Nygean ship that was caught in the Void, a section
of enclosed space without stars or planets.
Kathryn Janeway invited him to join her alliance. This alliance
was set up for protection and also to attempt to escape the
Void. At first Garon was reluctant to join and told Janeway he
would think about it. When Valen, another captain of a ship in
the Void, attacked the USS Voyager, Garon came to Janeway's aid
and helped drive the attackers off.
Garon and his ship escaped with Voyager from the Void using a
polaron modulator developed by Voyager. |

Arco SPECIES: n/a
Fantome was a member of a species that was native to the Void.
He was encountered by USS Voyager in 2377 within the Void aboard
a derelict starship.
He had purposely stowed away during the transport of a tricesium
warp core casing. He was found hiding in it by Seven of Nine and
B'Elanna Torres. They noted he had a badly injured leg and
brought him to sickbay.
The Doctor had difficulty treating him at first because he was
extremely skittish and wouldn't allow The Doctor near him. The
Doctor had discovered that he had an extremely large lung
capacity, which allowed him to survive in an oxygen-less
atmosphere for a certain period of time. He also seemed to have
a voracious appetite. Seven of Nine seemed to take a liking to
him and even gave him a portion of her rations to eat.
When Seven returned to see how he was doing, she found that The
Doctor had managed to treat him when he seemed to calm a bit
when The Doctor had begun humming the aria "Veglia, o donna,
questo fiore" from the Italian opera Rigoletto. The Doctor had
then decided to play the full orchestral version of the opera so
he could treat him, which was successful.

Wiles SPECIES: n/a
He
was encountered by the USS Voyager when that Federation starship
was trapped within the Void in 2377. Bosaal had technology that
could help both ships escape the Void.
However, when he saw Fantome aboard Voyager, he described him as
vermin. Fantome's species, which is native to the Void, had
infested Bosaal's ship, causing engineering problems. After
Voyager beamed Fantome's people off Bosaal's ship, Bosaal became
an ally of Captain Janeway's and offered to help their ships
escape the Void.
Voyager chief engineer B'Elanna Torres said she needed to build
a polaron modulator to generate the energy to escape the Void.
Bosaal produced one, but he was soon found to have stolen it
from another Void-trapped ship after he killed its crew. In
Janeway's belief that using the device would make her and the
crew of Voyager accessories to murder, she threw Bosaal and his
ill-gotten polaron modulator out of the alliance.
Bosaal and his ship later reappeared with Valen's and sought to
destroy Voyager. However, they were both left behind in the Void
when Voyager and its allies escaped.
